Meet Our Neighbors Open House, Aug 13, 2022

Neighborhood Night Out
Saturday, August 13, 2022

Saturday’s “Meet Your Neighbor” night out was a great success. Neighbors came and stayed to enjoy food and drink, face painting, church tours, lawn games and the live reggae sounds of Strictly Riddim. Members of our docent team enjoyed answering questions and sharing knowledge about our Landmark church with approximately 35 visitors, a number of whom admitted they had lived in the neighborhood for years but had never been in the church. Many thanks to the discipleship committee for planning and hosting this event.

Thank you, Father Bob

“Sent forth by God’s blessing” following Father Bob’s 35th Anniversary Mass.

Parishioners found plenty of reason to celebrate on Sunday, July 10, 2022, beginning with Father Gebhard’s 35th Anniversary of ordination. Following his Anniversary Mass, they had an opportunity to personally thank him for his dedication to the priesthood and contributions to our parish at a reception in St. Charles Hall.

Reception following Mass.

Saturday, July 23, 2022
2:00-3:30 p.m.

Blessed Trinity Church joins the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Eleventh Annual Sacred Sites Open House. This year’s theme, Open Doors, celebrates the return to in-person programming and highlights the broad spectrum of historical periods, faith traditions, and styles of religious architecture found in communities throughout the Empire State. As a participating congregation, Blessed Trinity will showcase its Landmark building with a presentation on its architecture and parish history accompanied by a docent-led tour. Learn about this “made in America” replica of twelfth century Lombard-Romanesque architecture including: handmade bricks set in a style dating back to the Middle Ages, extensive use of terra cotta, fascinating medieval iconography, and display of more than 2,000 Christian symbols. Reservations are now open for this free event. Click HERE to register.

As part of Trinity Sunday’s feast day celebration, participants in the Sunday liturgy posed for a congregational photo. Mass was followed by a reception in St. Charles Hall.

Ceremony of Remembrance, May 21, 2022

On Saturday, May 21, Blessed Trinity participated in the diocesan-wide tribute and remembrance of the victims of the May 14 mass shooting in Buffalo. The ceremony included the proscribed moments of silence, the tolling of the church bell, and a recitation of the names of the dead and wounded. Our flag was also lowered to half-staff and a special altar of remembrance was placed in the church Sanctuary.

Building the Church, May 14, 2022

Just off-camera, docent Tom Brodfuehrer explains the medieval origins of Blessed Trinity’s misshapen bricks to Father Bob Gebhard and visitors from our Family of Parishes.

On May 14, congregants from our Family of Parishes celebrated the upcoming Birthday of the Church with a day of socialization and exploration at Blessed Trinity. Docents helped interpret a few of the most meaningful among some 2,000 symbols displayed in the building’s art and architecture. Youthful participants were given clues to help them find images of children, and everyone enjoyed a “scavenger hunt” for selected symbols in terra cotta columns and floor tiles. Having experienced a close-up look at the choir loft’s rose window, visitors ended the afternoon with a chance to create their own “stained-glass” window. Many thanks to pastoral associate Pat Dyer who planned the event and to our parish docent team, including Father Bob who made his debut in the narthex explaining symbols of Christ’s childhood.
