“We know that Jesus is there in the tabernacle: let us open our hearts to Him, let us rejoice in His Sacred Presence. That is the best prayer.” This quote is attributed to St. John Vianney, whose image appears in silver relief on the left side door of our Tabernacle.

Blessed Carlos Acutis. Learn more about the first Millennial on the path to sainthood from a traveling exhibit opening in our church this Saturday, August 9. Carlos Acutis (1991-2006) was a British-born Italian student who, like our featured saint of the week John Vianney (see above), was known for his devotion to the Eucharist. Prior to his death from leukemia at the age of fifteen, Acutis assisted in establishing multiple websites related to the Catholic Church, one of which documented Eucharistic miracles. Pope Leo XIV has announced that his canonization will take place on September 7, 2025.

Come One, Come All! Saturday, August 9, is our annual “Meet the Neighbors” block party. Invite our parish neighbors and be part of the fun. See the homepage flyer for details.

Summertime Means Sacred Space Sundays. Our church contains more than 2,000 Christian symbols by design. Members of our docent team will remain after Mass on August 24 and September 28 to explain a few of them, so bring your curiosity and your questions. In honor of Bob Heicklen and the work of our discipleship committee, we encourage you to share the experience by inviting a friend to attend Mass with you.

The Shrimp Flower

Ecumenical Praise for Parish Gardens. Last Sunday, July 27, Blessed Trinity played host to religious convention planners. The group of 15 were members of the Religious Conference Management Association and represented Protestant congregations from across the U.S. who are interested in bringing faith-based meetings and conventions to Buffalo. Their stay in Buffalo included attendance at the world famous Garden Walk Buffalo and, as a bonus, they also got to experience our parish gardens on the walk to and from their motorcoach. Many marveled at their beauty, and a “shrimp flower” in front of the rectory gained particular attention. Special thanks to everyone who has planted, weeded and watered. You’ve gained fans from nine different states!

Monday Evening Scripture Study will resume in September.

  • It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.
  • Families are referred by the Dept. of Social Services and receive case management in finding employment and permanent housing, security deposit assistance, day care, school transport, and follow up support upon leaving the shelter.
  • In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.

Is it time to update your contact information? During the pandemic when COVID-19 Protocols prevented many from attending church services, the ability to keep in touch by telephone, mail or email took on increased importance. Because not everyone has computer access, really important information is sent in a letter. Even though you are now able to attend Mass in person, this may be a good time to ask yourself: Does the church office have my correct mailing address and phone number? Have I shared my email address? Make sure that we have been notified of any changes in your contact information by completing this form. This is also a chance to let us know if you: wish to receive the bulletin electronically via email, register as a parishioner, or request envelopes. You can also submit the requested information by phoning our secretary at 716-833-0301 any Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday between 10:30am and 2:30pm; sending an email to blessedtrinitychurch [at] gmail [dot] com; or using the contact feature below to submit the information. If you choose either of the last two, please use “Contact Update” as the subject of the email or message.

St. Mary of Magdala

Celebrate St. Mary of Magdala with us at Blessed Trinity on Tues., July 22, at 7 PM as we welcome Carol  Mullins of Quiet Whispers Ministry. “St. Mary of Magdala: Leading us closer to Jesus…,”  is an evening of reflection centered around the person and ministry of St. Mary of Magdala. Discussion includes this saint’s misrepresentation throughout history,  her contributions to the faith, and how modern-day Christians can follow her example of faith and action. There will be original music by Ms. Mullins and an identification of the saint’s appearances in our building’s artwork. The program is open to all and will end with fellowship and refreshments in St. Charles Hall. All we ask are reservations and a free-will offering. Email Nancy Langer at nmlanger [at] gmail [dot] com or call or text her at 716-984-5146 by Sun., July 13. This weekend’s bulletin also includes a flyer for this event. If you frequent a local library, senior center or a business with a bulletin board, please ask them to post it for you.

Sacred Space Sundays return on July 28! Do you ever stare at a particular word or design in our church and wonder why it’s there? Here is your chance to find out. Members of our docent team will remain after Mass to explain a few of the more than 2,000 Christian symbols contained in the art and architecture of our sacred space. In honor of Bob Heicklen and the work of our discipleship committee, we encourage you to share the experience by inviting a friend to attend Mass with you. There will be additional “Sacred Space” opportunities on August 24 and September 28.

Congratulations to Spencer Schroeder and Nate Sperandeo who came to the Table of the Eucharist for the first time last Sunday, June 22, at Blessed Trinity. Spencer and Nate were joined by Shawn Outen, Awut Dut, Easton Mansour and Noah Palmer who made their First Communion at our other Family 21 parishes. We offer our prayers of gratitude for all of them and their families.

Michigan St. Corridor Tour – A group of twelve parishioners enjoyed a field trip to the Michigan St. Corridor and tours of the beautifully restored Michigan St. Baptist Church (Est. 1849) and the Nash House Museum on Saturday morning, June 21. Our thanks to Dr. Janice Ferguson and Ms. Sharon Holley who introduced us to the church and museum, respectively. The both were extremely knowledgeable, imparting a great deal of information about the church, its history and personages, as well as its longest serving pastor, Rev. J. Edward Nash, Sr. We also thank our Ladies Sodality for organizing the tour and acknowledge the support received from the Fr. Reger Education Foundation.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the HomelessFamily Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. We hope you will join us. If you want more background information go to the web site, www.fpwny.org, or contact Amy Johnson (716-836-4694).

  • Family Promise is certified by NYS and can house up to six families.
