His Excellency Bishop Michael Fisher celebrated the 10am Mass at Blessed Trinity on Sunday, December 19, 2021, marking his first visit to the parish. We were honored to welcome him again as celebrant of the Annual Diocesan Mass of Remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Our docent team of Mickey Dick, Rafael Rondon, Gary Weber, and Nancy Yaeger welcomed thirty-five visitors with Explore Buffalo for a holiday season tour on Wednesday, December 29. The weather cooperated, allowing everyone to examine our unique brickwork and extensive iconography displayed on the church facade.
Biblical Scholar Barbara Shanahan led off a series of Advent reflections with “Reimaging Hope” on Nov 30, 2021, at Blessed Trinity. Discussion will continue weekly on ZOOM during December.
On Sunday, December 19, 2021, the St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum presented an Advent Service of Lessons and Carols at Blessed Trinity, performing works by Byrd, Handl-Gallus, Hassler, Praetorius, Rheinberger, Victoria and others. Lessons and Carols is a service of scripture readings and sung responses that tell the story of salvation from Genesis to Revelation, journeying through time from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden to the coming of a Savior. The Schola — which rehearses at Blessed Trinity — is an “a cappella” choir dedicated to preserving, promoting and performing sacred choral works from the great treasury of music of the Catholic Church. Their repertoire ranges from Gregorian Chant to masterpieces of sacred polyphony from the Middle Ages to modern times. For more information, follow them on Facebook @JP2Schola.

You’ll be stepping back in time when you attend services this weekend. In anticipation of filming for the as yet untitled movie about Francesca (“Mother”) Cabrini (1850-1917), electricians were hard at work on Friday taking Blessed Trinity back to the early 19th century. Sound system speakers have been removed and modern light bulbs replaced, but it’s only temporary. The movie is based on a story by Alejandro Monteverde and Rod Barr about an Italian immigrant nun and pioneer for human rights. Frances Cabrini was the founder of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and, in 1946, became the first American citizen to be canonized.
