Save the Date: Friday, November 7, 2025. Our popular biennial wine tasting returns, and parishioner Bill Warren, former proprietor of Hertel-Parker Liquor, is back as our sommelier. The evening also includes an expansive offering of hors d’oeuvres, a basket raffle and auction. Non-alcoholic beverages and beer are included. Tickets are now available at the pre-sale price of $50 by calling the rectory office (716-833-0301) or Bud and Mickey Dick (716-832-2540). Thanks to Wegman’s on Amherst Street and Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue for their contributions toward food purchases for the event, a well as Paula’s Donuts, Explore Buffalo, Adam’s Rib Restaurant, and casemates.com for providing auction and raffle prizes.

Cocoa Challenge 2025. We are continuing Sr. Karen Klimczak’s Christmas Prison Project, bringing small gifts and a message of hope to the incarcerated. Your donation of instant hot chocolate (no marshmallows, please) can be placed in the back pew by November 23. Monetary donations are most welcome (checks payable to “Peace Prints of WNY”) and should be placed in an envelope marked “Prisoner Gifts” and dopped in the collection basket. We also need volunteers of all ages and artistic ability to color and illustrate the gift bags. You can find the requisite white paper bags in the rear pew.

Finance Committee members address questions at 10/15 parish meeting.

Members of the parish finance committee addressed parishioners at an October 15 meeting in St. Charles Hall. Topics included the current status of parish finances, repercussions from the diocesan bankruptcy, and ways in which parishioners might help to sustain the vision of a parish that continues to grow and thrive. Father Bob and committee members answered questions and promised to obtain additional information when needed to address inquiries.

A Go-Fund Me Page has been established for a parishioner whose home was destroyed in a September 5th fire. Please see the bulletin for details on how to contribute. If you prefer, you can bring your donation to church.

Thank You Sister Liz Savage for your comprehensive Subs ‘n Suds lecture on the history of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, including their influence on and community involvement in WNY. The Sisters of St. Joseph taught at Blessed Trinity School from 1908-1975 and although we don’t know her name, one of the Sisters who was teaching at Blessed Trinity School at the time of the church construction posed for the painting of St. Margaret Mary at the church’s Sacred Heart Altar.

Mass is the highest and greatest form of prayer. Contact the office (716-833-0301) to request a Mass intention for yourself, your loved ones, a special need, or in thanksgiving for prayers answered. The Mass stipend or offering is $15. If a specific date is desired, please call as far in advance as possible. Our secretary, Barb Sercu, is in the office Monday – Wednesday from 10:30am to 2:30pm.

Food Pantry in Need of Volunteers ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry operates EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue. Following the “Shopper’s Choice” model, residents of zip codes 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets are generally available. The pantry also stocks infant care items. More volunteers are needed. To learn how you might be able to help, call (716) 800-1075 or email ccfp14215 [at] gmail [dot] com for information.

We play Bingo every Thursday in St. Charles Hall, 350 Dewey Ave. Doors open at 6:30pm, concessions open at 7:30, and games begin at 8:00pm. Please plan to join us. You can check the latest carryover figures on our Facebook page.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. We hope you will join us. If you want more background information go to the web site, www.fpwny.org, or contact Amy Johnson (716-836-4694).

Family Promise is certified by NYS and can house up to six families.
It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.
Families are referred by the Dept. of Social Services and receive case management in finding employment and permanent housing, security deposit assistance, day care, school transport, and follow up support upon leaving the shelter.
In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.

Sr. Elizabeth Savage will share the history of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in WNY, which includes sixty-seven years (1908-1975) of educating children attending Blessed Trinity School. The sub supper is served beginning at 5:30pm and lecture follows at 6:30. The free-will offering will help to continue the legacy of Fr. George Reger by extending our educational offerings.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux, France (St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus) is honored by the Church on October 1. She was canonized in 1925 while our church was being built, and this statue is found on the right in the church transept.

Classmates from Blessed Trinity School’s Class of 1975 celebrated the 50th Anniversary of their graduation at the annual Alumni Mass and all-class reunion, held this year on Sep 28.

Alumni Sunday. Today the parish welcomed alumni of the former Blessed Trinity School to their annual Alumni Memorial Mass, a tradition since 2007. The names of graduates who passed during the last year were read during the Prayer of the Faithful, and members of the 50th Anniversary Class of 1975 presented the Offertory gifts. The Class of 1975 was the last graduating class of the parish grammar school, which opened in 1908. During the sixty-seven years of its existence, more than 2,300 students were educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Following the Mass, alumni gathered for an all-class reunion in St. Charles Hall.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.

In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.

St. Francis is coming to Blessed Trinity. On Sunday afternoon at 1 pm, a one-man play depicting the life of St. Francis will be performed in our church. Free-will offerings will be shared by the Fr. George Reger Faith Formation Program and the Response to Love Center.

Alumni Sunday. The Blessed Trinity School Alumni’s annual Alumni Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Sunday, September 28. This is the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1975, the last graduating class of the parish grammar school which opened in 1908. Over the years of its existence, the Sisters of St. Joseph educated more than 2,300 students. We hope all parishioners will join us in welcoming the alumni who have been returning to worship with us each fall since 2007. Following the Mass, alumni will enjoy an all-class reunion in St. Charles Hall.

September 28 is our final Sacred Space Sunday of the summer season. Our church contains more than 2,000 Christian symbols by design. Members of our docent team will remain after Mass on September 28 to explain a few of them, so bring your curiosity and your questions. In honor of Bob Heicklen and the work of our discipleship committee, we encourage you to share the experience by inviting a friend to attend Mass with you. (Even with the alumni reunion, there will be plenty of seating).

Monday Evening Scripture Study resumes on September 29 at 6:30pm in St. Charles Hall. Our discussion returns to the prophets, in particular, Hosea. Bibles are available if you don’t already have one.

Save the Date: Friday, November 7, 2025. Our popular biennial wine tasting returns, and Bill Warren, former proprietor of Hertel-Parker Liquor, is back as our sommelier. More information in the coming weeks.

Mass is the highest and greatest form of prayer. Contact the office (716-833-0301) to request a Mass intention for yourself, your loved ones, a special need, or in thanksgiving for prayers answered. Food Pantry in Need of Volunteers ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry operates EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue. Following the “Shopper’s Choice” model, residents of zip codes 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets are generally available. The pantry also stocks infant care items. More volunteers are needed.
