Food Pantry Returns to Shopper’s Choice ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry, which operates from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue, is now operating EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Residents of 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets generally available. Baby needs in stock also. Call (716) 800-1075 or email ccfp14215 [at] gmail [dot] com for information.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Brigid-Columba Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. • It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.

• In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.

Despite our late start in planting and the reality that some seedlings were pass their prime, the flowers surrounding the church and rectory have flourished. Thank you Bloom Crew for your devoted watering. Take time to enjoy another “garden walk” before Jack Frost beats you to it.

Wine Tasting ~ Our October 27 Wine Tasting benefitting the St. Charles Hall roof replacement project is this Friday! The event runs from 7 – 9 p.m. and in addition to wine and food includes beer and non-alcoholic beverages, silent auction and basket raffle items. If you are still hoping to purchase a ticket for the pre-event price of $40 per person, call the rectory office (716-833-0301)  or Bud Dick (716-832-2540) by Monday. Tickets are $45 at the door.

During the month of October which is dedicated to The Holy Rosary, you are reminded that parishioners of Ss. Columba-Brigid offer a bilingual recitation of the Rosary every Monday at 7PM via ZOOM. You will find a link on the Parish Family calendar. There is also an opportunity to pray the Rosary every Friday at 11:30am in the Daily Mass Chapel at Blessed Trinity, following the 11:00am Mass.

Let the Music Begin! More than 100 music lovers attended the Camerata di Sant’ Antonio’s concert at Blessed Trinity on Sunday, October 8. ln recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the program opened with Manuel Ponce’s Concierto del Sur for Guitar and Orchestra, featuring guest guitarist Ricardo Saeb. Other works included the world premiere of Douglas Ovens’ Largo for Violin and Strings with soloist Shieh Jian Tsai and the WNY premiere of Symphony No. 1 in G Major composed by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Although not everyone stayed for the post-concert reception, those who did got to mingle with musicians and Camerata Music Director Christopher Weber while enjoying  some wonderful hors d’oeuvres—just a foretaste of what awaits those who attend the October 27 Wine Tasting!

Symbols representing the apostles appear in the capitals and the bases of the columns surrounding the angels on either side of The Main Portico. “The common way of representing [the apostles] is with the symbol of their martyrdom.” (Rev. Walter Kern’s Guidebook to Blessed Trinity R. C. Church, page 15). St. Simon is symbolized by this saw;
St. Jude is symbolized by a knotted club which appears on another column.

Wine Tasting ~ Our October 27 Wine Tasting benefitting the St. Charles Hall roof replacement project is now less than two weeks away. If you’ve attended previous wine tastings, no sales pitch is necessary; if this is your first time, you are in for a real treat. The committee is working hard and counting on parishioners to do what they do best: provide favorite hors d’oeuvres and desserts  for our guests. Please help us out by donating a favorite of yours.  The event runs from 7 – 9 p.m. and in addition to wine and food includes beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets are available after weekend Masses for a donation of $40/person ($45 at the door); see Bud Dick or call him at 832-2540 to obtain yours.

Let the Music Begin! “Spilling the Tea on Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention.”  Our first joint women’s program sponsored by the St. Martin de Porres Women’s Guild and held at Blessed Trinity was a resounding success. Almost forty women representing all four parishes turned out on Saturday, October 7, to hear Roswell Park’s Community Outreach and Engagement Director, Nikia Robinson. Ms. Robinson’s engaging personality and informative presentation on breast cancer awareness and prevention drew a number of questions, comments and shared experiences from the attentive audience. The program was preceded by a luncheon—complete with a variety of teas served in china cups. Those in attendance were provided with pink ribbons and encouraged to add the names of cancer survivors, friends currently undergoing treatment as well as loved ones who had succumbed to the disease.

Convention delegates visit Blessed Trinity. Members of The Stained Glass Association of America and the Society of American Mosaic Artists held their annual conference in Buffalo and concluded their time in WNY with a day of architectural tourism. Their first stop on Monday, October 2, was Blessed Trinity, where docents Mickey Dick, Eleanor Ash and Rafael Rondon welcomed the visitors and their Explore Buffalo guide for an hour-long tour. The convention-goers included travelers from as far away as the Canadian Province of Alberta and the Yukon Territory, Washington State, California and Puerto Rico.

Convention-goers to visit Blessed Trinity. Members of The Stained Glass Association of America and the Society of American Mosaic Artists have just wrapped up their annual conference in Buffalo. On Monday morning, October 2, docents Mickey Dick, Eleanor Ash and Rafael Rondon will welcome a group of meeting attendees and their Explore Buffalo guide for an hour-long tour of our Landmark church.

Our ZOOM Bible Study classes have resumed at 4pm each Tuesday. We are continuing our discussion of the Gospel of Matthew. The link to join is available HERE and on the “Faith Formation” Page.

Fall Confirmation sessions for our family of parishes continue on October 5 at Ss. Columba-Brigid. They begin at 6:30pm.

“Spilling the Tea on Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention,” Saturday, October 7, from Noon-2PM in St. Charles Hall. Join with women from our family of parishes for a luncheon and presentation on breast cancer awareness and prevention, sponsored by the St. Martin de Porres Women’s Guild. Our guest speaker will be Nikia Robinson, Roswell Park’s Community Outreach and Engagement Director. Dress the part with a fancy hat and something pink! Finger food donations gratefully accepted. Let the Music Begin! On Sunday, October 8, at 3 PM, the Camerata di Sant’ Antonio brings the beautiful music of their chamber orchestra to our beautiful space. Since 2002, the Camerata—which includes members of the BPO—has presented concerts designed to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of our community, with premier works featured in every performance. ln recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the program will include Manuel Ponce’s Concierto del Sur for Guitar and Orchestra. You will also be treated to a post-concert reception in St. Charles Hall. A courtesy pass enabling members of our parish family to attend free of charge is available on page 3 of in this weekend’s bulletin.

Blessed Trinity’s favorite fundraiser is back—a Fall Wine Tasting on Friday, October 27, from 7-9 PM, featuring a variety of wines to sample and savor, accompanied by delicious hors d’oeuvres, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and desserts. Please mark your calendar, invite your friends, and plan to join us for a lovely evening. Pre-sale tickets are available now for a donation of $40.00 per person by calling the rectory office (716-833-0301) or Bud & Mickey Dick (716-832-2540). Tickets at the door: $45. Proceeds will be earmarked for the St. Charles Hall roof replacement project.

Alumni Sunday. The parish welcomed alumni of Blessed Trinity School for their annual Alumni Memorial Mass and reception on Sunday, September 24. The annual observance included Tom Brodfuehrer’s mini-tour highlighting the church façade, a ceremonial ringing of the former church/school bell at the beginning of Mass and an all-class reception in St. Charles Hall. At the reception, members of the alumni committee presented Father Bob with a donation to help defray the cost of the St. Charles Hall roof replacement project. Blessed Trinity School operated from 1909-1975, educating more than 2,300 students. From the beginning, it was staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph who were joined by lay faculty in the 1950s.

Our gardens still looked great on Alumni Sunday, so thanks to the Bloom Crew! We are grateful to each of the weekly volunteers who have watered and/or weeded our parish gardens and planters since July. Special recognition goes to Kathleen Dove who stepped in on several occasions when others could not. As summer comes to a close, we are counting on Mother Nature to finish the job.

We play Bingo every Thursday in St. Charles Hall, 350 Dewey Ave. Doors open at 6:30pm, concessions open at 7:30, and games begin at 8:00pm. Please plan to join us. You can check the latest carryover figures on our Facebook page.

Food Pantry Returns to Shopper’s Choice ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry, which operates from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue, is now operating EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Residents of 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets generally available. St. Thérèse of Lisieux, France (St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus) is honored by the Church on October 1. She was canonized in 1925 – while our church was being built – and remains “one of the most popular saints of modern times because of her ‘Little Way’ of seeking holiness through the everyday things in the ordinary circumstances of life. The beautiful ceramic decorations around the shrine niche [in the right transept] are some of the most beautiful in the church.” (Rev. Walter Kern’s Guidebook to Blessed Trinity R.C. Protecting God’s Children Workshop will be held at Blessed Trinity on Saturday, September 30, from 10am-1:30pm in St. Charles Hall. This VIRTUS program is aimed at protecting children from child sexual abuse and is a requirement for anyone working with children in our diocese.

Choir Rehearsals have resumed, every Tuesday evening at 7pm in church. If you are interested in joining our choir, please speak to Music Director Elizabeth Clay or any choir member. Traditionally, our choir sings for Sunday Mass from September through the Feast of Corpus Christi, as well as Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and all Holy Week services.
