We open our 2014-15 Trinity Concert Series with an Afternoon of Classical Music, featuring tenor and Buffalo native Robert Zimmerman and soprano Amy Lynn Grable. This husband and wife due will perform works of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and Wagner. Experience some of opera’s most beloved arias, as well as operetta and musical theater highlights. A free-will offering will be taken; suggested donation $10.00.
For those who may be attending their first concert at Blessed Trinity, the Landmark church building is located at 317 Leroy Avenue (between Fillmore and Grider) in Buffalo. It is wheelchair accessible with secured off-street parking.

Our ever-popular wine tasting is back! Courtesy of Bill Warren and Hertel Parker Liquor, this event is held every other year, with proceeds benefiting the Under This Roof Fund of Blessed Trinity Church. We’ll be announcing the availability of pre-sale tickets soon, so please mark your calendar, invite your friends, and plan to join us for a lovely evening. Blessed Trinity Welcomes the Public “Traveling”
on New York’s Path Through History

Travel New York State’s Path Through History to Blessed Trinity Church on Saturday, June 7. Initiated by Governor Andrew Cuomo in August, 2012, Path Through History Weekend events are designed to showcase the State’s history and cultural significance.
We welcome the public to Buffalo’s first City Landmark from 2-4 p.m. with docents prepared to discuss the unique features of this replica of twelfth century Lombard-Romanesque church architecture, including an exterior fashioned from handmade bricks, an elaborate display of medieval iconography on its terra cotta façade; and more than 2000 symbols summarizing Christian beliefs in ceramic tiles, paintings and sculpture. A video of craftsmen and materials involved in maintaining and restoring our Buffalo Landmark will also be available for viewing. Bring your cameras and your binoculars. Visitors are also invited to remain and worship with us at 4:30 p.m. Mass.
Located at 317 Leroy Avenue (between Fillmore Avenue and Grider Street), Blessed Trinity is wheelchair accessible and has ample off-street parking behind the church and adjacent FLARE Community Center.

The Colored Musicians Club “Swingin’ in the Aisles”
We close our 2013-14 Trinity Series of “beautiful music in a beautiful space” on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3 p.m., with “Swingin’ in the Aisles.” Charles Reedy and Friends, a jazz ensemble affiliated with the Colored Musicians Club of Buffalo, will perform an exciting mix of jazz, blues, gospel and swing tunes guaranteed to have your feet tappin’, your body swayin’, and your inner voice singin’. Featured performers include: band leader and saxophonist, Charlie Reedy; Larry Salters on keyboard and Dement Orman on bass; guitarist Darrin Bland, Stanley Day on trumpet, and vocalists Joyce Carolyn and Sandra Gilliam.
Our Landmark Church, located at 317 Leroy Avenue, Buffalo, is wheelchair accessible and has secured off-street parking. Proceeds from the performance will be used to fund restoration efforts at two historic Buffalo Landmark sites — Blessed Trinity Church and the Colored Musicians Club, part of the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor. Suggested donation: $10.00.

Fourth Annual Sacred Sites Open House Weekend

On May 17 and 18, Blessed Trinity will be one of four Buffalo Houses of Worship participating in the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Fourth Annual Sacred Sites Open House Weekend, inviting the public to experience their edifices as repositories of faith, art, and history. Members of our docent team will be on hand to explain the church’s unique features that make it the purest replication of Lombard-Romanesque architecture in the United States. You’ll be able to examine its handmade bricks set in a style dating back to the Middle Ages, learn about the elaborate display of medieval iconography on the terra cotta portico, and stand in awe at the more than 2,000 symbols summarizing Christian beliefs in ceramic tiles, paintings and sculpture.
This is one of two weekends this spring when you can enjoy guided tours of Blessed Trinity and photograph our art and architecture to your heart’s content. In keeping with the 2014 theme established by the Conservancy, visitors will be invited to view a video which traces the history of our congregation and includes insight into the immigrant and ethnic populations that shaped our congregation over the years.

Dr. Alex Bitterman, Associate Professor of Architecture at RIT, will lecture on
“The Historic Architecture of our Saint John’s Grace” at Noon on Sunday.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites is the country’s oldest and largest statewide program providing financial and technical assistance to help historic religious properties. Since 1986, Sacred Sites grants totaling $7.7 million have mobilized more than $540 million in restoration and repair projects statewide. Tours at all church locations are free of charge and available to the public at the times listed.
