Family of Parishes Update – The past week’s media reports on the composition of our Family of Parishes has been somewhat confusing. Click HERE to read a letter from Bishop Fisher that will be read at Masses this weekend.

All women are invited to the Ladies Sodality “Meet-and Greet” next Sunday, March 2, in St. Charles Hall. The program includes a business meeting with a limited agenda and a presentation on the Rosary and the facts and legends its history reveals. Approximate start time:11:30am. Refreshments will be served. Think Mardi Gras and wear your purples, greens and golds. You may use the contact feature at the bottom of this page by Thurs., February 27 to let us know you are coming. Please include “Mar 2 RSVP” as part of your message.

A Unique Icon Retreat incorporating spirituality and artistry is being offered at Blessed Trinity on Saturday & Sunday, March 22 & 23 and March 29 & 30. Call Pat Dyer (716-256-2598) to learn about financial support available for members of our Family of Parishes who wish to attend. Time will be alloted to attend Mass so that retreat participants can fulfill their weekend obligation. Each Saturday, a parish docent will provide a mini-tour of the church highlighting the building’s medieval iconography and display of more than 2,000 Christian symbols.

Your Voice is Urgently Needed! Catholic Relief Services works with organizations around the world to help poor and vulnerable people overcome emergencies, earn a living through agriculture and access affordable health care. They are urging each of us to let our members of Congress know of your deep concern following the Administration’s recent directive to halt almost all U. S. foreign assistance programs. Even Secretary of State Rubio’s exception for lifesaving humanitarian assistance has not yet allowed any funding to move so lifesaving work can continue. This freeze is affecting millions. As people of faith, let us stand shoulder to shoulder with our sisters and brothers in need. Tell Congress to engage with the Administration to continue allowing foreign assistance programs to operate during the review process. Food Pantry in Need of Volunteers ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry operates EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue. Following the “Shopper’s Choice” model, residents of zip codes 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets are generally available. The pantry also stocks infant care items. More volunteers are needed. We play Bingo every Thursday in St. Charles Hall, 350 Dewey Ave. Doors open at 6:30pm, concessions open at 7:30, and games begin at 8:00pm. Please plan to join us. You can check the latest carryover figures on our Facebook page.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. • Family Promise is certified by NYS and can house up to six families.
• It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.
• Families are referred by the Dept. of Social Services and receive case management in finding employment and permanent housing, security deposit assistance, day care, school transport, and follow up support upon leaving the shelter.
• In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.

During the pandemic when COVID-19 Protocols prevented many from attending church services, the ability to keep in touch by telephone, mail or email took on increased importance. Because not everyone has computer access, really important information is sent in a letter. Even though you are now able to attend Mass in person, this may be a good time to ask yourself: Does the church office have my correct mailing address and phone number? Have I shared my email address? Make sure that we have been notified of any changes in your contact information by completing this form. This is also a chance to let us know if you: wish to receive the bulletin electronically via email, register as a parishioner, or request envelopes.
