Solemn Tenebrae Service
Friday, March 22, 2024
7:00 P.M.

An adaptation of the Good Friday Liturgy of Tenebrae will take place in our church on Friday evening, March 22, at 7 pm, with choral music provided by the combined choirs of Blessed Trinity and Fourteen Holy Helpers. The Liturgy of Tenebrae (meaning ‘darkness’ or ‘shadows’) includes seven readings relating the story of Jesus’ passion and death. After each reading, a candle is extinguished followed by a prayer and sung response. The darkness gradually increases to symbolize the coming darkness of Jesus’ death.

Our service of “shadows” will feature widely recognizable American music, including several spiritual and gospel songs, reflecting the diversity of our family of parishes. Featured composers and arrangers will include George Bennard, Albert Blackwell, Grayson Warren Brown, Lloyd Larson, Lowell Mason and Peter Paul Olejar.

Please invite a friend and join us for this beautiful and inspiring prelude to Holy Week.

Our Landmark church is located at 317 Leroy Avenue between Fillmore and Grider.
It is wheelchair accessible with ample off-street parking.
