Docent Eleanor Ash describes Sanctuary art and architecture to Sacred Sites Open House visitors.

Sacred Sites Open House is Next Weekend ~ On May 21-22, 2016, Blessed Trinity will participate in the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Sixth Annual Sacred Sites Open House weekend. We will join dozens of houses of worship all over the state showcasing their landmark buildings. It’s an opportunity to highlight our Landmark church as a perfect example of art preserved by faith and faith preserved in art. Open House hours at Blessed Trinity are Saturday, May 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM (before 4:30 Mass), and following Sunday Mass on May 22 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. Tell your friends, neighbors and anyone who may never have visited BT about it. All are welcome!! We still need one or two volunteers as greeters – welcoming everyone who comes in the doors. If you can help on either of these two days, please fill out one of the forms on the Communion rail indicating what type of role you are willing to play and which date/time you are available. Place the completed form in the basket. Judy Casassa will contact you with confirmation of your assignment.

The Parish Council will meet this Wednesday, May 18, at 7 PM in St. Charles Hall. We will be discussing on-going committee projects and summer events. If unable to attend, please call the rectory office (716-833-0301).

Prayer Partner Meet and Greet ~ If you participated in the Lenten Prayer Partner Program, come and meet your partner beginning at 5:30 PM this Thursday, May 19, at Ss. Columba-Brigid Church. A pot-luck dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. If able, please bring a dish to share with other prayer partners.  There is a sign-up sheet on the Communion rail. Any questions, call Sr. Maureen at 897-9948, ext. 114.

Members of the Choir are invited to attend the annual Festival Liturgy sponsored by the Church Musicians’ Guild of Buffalo on Thursday, May 19, at 7 PM. Representatives from choirs throughout the diocese will gather at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 73 Adam St., Tonawanda, NY 14150, to celebrate the end of the Easter and choir seasons. The Guild will honor its 50-year members, Dr. James Kosnick, Robert Winkler and Edward Witul, and present its Cecelia Roy Kenny Award to Gail Shepherd of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, Williamsville. A reception will follow the Mass. Anyone planning to attend should contact Mickey Dick by Sunday, May 15.

A Senior Retreat, “Living and Loving through the Generations,” is being presented by the African American Commission of the Office of Cultural Diversity on Saturday, May 21, from 9:30 AM – 4 PM at St. Anthony’s Church, Lackawanna, NY. Geared for those 55 years of age and older, the retreat will feature discussions entitled “Life Review,” led by Fr. Roy Herberger, and “Living and Loving Through the Generations,” led by Sr. Barbara Riter. Brochures and registration forms are available at our parish. For additional information you may contact Commission member Althea Porter at 716-316-8395.

Sodality Dinner ~ On Wednesday evening, June 8, members of the Ladies Sodality will meet at Sean Patrick’s Restaurant, 3480 Millersport Hgwy. in Getzville for their annual dinner. There will be 3 dinner entrees priced at $29: broiled haddock (with Italian breadcrumbs or Cajun style) including soup or salad & choice of sides; roast turkey (with homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy); or sautéed shrimp (with garlic, basil, tomato pesto & a hint of chipotle) served over fettuccini pasta. A fourth entrée choice features charbroiled boneless chicken & ½ rack of BBQ baby back ribs with coleslaw & one side for $31. These prices include tax and gratuity. All women of the parish are invited to attend and friends are welcome. There will be a cash bar beginning at 6 PM with dinner served at 6:30 PM. Please contact Mickey Dick or Amy Johnson with your reservations by Wednesday, June 1. Payment is due by Sunday, June 5. Checks should be made payable to “Ladies Sodality of Blessed Trinity.”

Congratulations, Elsieta! ~ Our parish would like to congratulate Elsieta Chapman on the completion of four years of study with the Catholic Biblical Studies Program. This accomplishment will be recognized with the awarding of a certificate at a Closing Mass of Thanksgiving on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 7:00 PM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lancaster. The certificate received at this celebration of faith represents a dedication to the study of Scripture and openness to how the Bible challenges us in our daily lives.

The Ladies Sodality thanks Sue Trabert and Palma Zanghi for leading our members to a greater understanding of the importance of water as a resource and, more specifically, the Felician Sisters’ “Water with Blessing” purification project in Haiti.

Our Helping Hands Food Pantry has extended its hours and now operates on both Friday and Saturday mornings from 9 AM – 12 Noon. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Luis Clay at 716-812-3461.
