St. Luke, whose feast day we celebrate on October 18, is depicted in this circular painting in one of the pendentives supporting Blessed Trinity’s dome. It replicates a similar design from St. Peter’s in Rome. “Since Christ sent the Apostles out to preach the Good News of how much God loves us, this church rightly places the missionary emphasis of the Church in a prominent position.” This pendentive also includes the ox of sacrifice, the symbol associated with St. Luke. The Transformative Power of Birth: Sponsored by the Midwifery Team at Mercy Hospital ~ Free community seminar, Tuesday, October 28, 5:30 – 7:30pm @ Catholic Health’s Administrative & Regional Training Center, 144 Genesee St., Buffalo. Giving birth is a transformative moment for women and their families. At Catholic Health, we honor that transition with quality care for moms and babies.  Whether you are having your first baby or your fourth child, Catholic Health would be honored to enable you to be ready for this transformation at our hospitals.  Birth is powerful and it forever changes the life of the child born and the mother who carried that child.  The Midwifery group at Mercy Hospital is presenting an evening to celebrate this transition and to empower women to know as much about the birth process as possible so that they can have the experience they are hoping for when bringing new life into this world. Please register by calling (716) 447-6205 or online at www.chsbuffalo.org/events.
