Sister Mary Anne Butler, SSJ
We welcome Blessed Trinity School Alumni on Sunday, October 4, for their annual Memorial Mass for deceased alumni and faculty of the elementary school. Blessed Trinity School was in operation from 1908-1975. Over the years of its existence, more than 2,300 students were educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph at Blessed Trinity. Sister Mary Anne Butler, SSJ, was principal when the school closed in 1975. She died in June of this year and will be remembered together with recently deceased alumni during the Oct 4 Mass.
Housekeeping in our House of Worship. Our team of volunteer sacristans has adjusted its bi-weekly schedule so that women from the team can attend the Oct 3 luncheon hosted by the St. Martin de Porres Women’s Guild. The next opportunity to pitch in: Saturday, October 10. Meet the team at 11AM at the Daily Mass Chapel door (next to the garage).
We are so thankful for all the women and men who watered our church gardens through the very dry summer months. The flowers are still looking glorious so take the time to enjoy with a walk around the church and rectory!
We’re making candy for our Halloween tourists and you! On October 24, we’ll be using the candy-making skills we learned from our friends at Ss. Columba-Brigid, and our reps on the stewardship pillar invite you to help with a fun fundraiser. We need volunteers with crockpots to assemble at St. Charles Hall early on the morning of Oct. 24 and join in the production of a variety of chocolate clusters for sale on Saturday, October 31, when Explore Buffalo brings hometown tourists to Blessed Trinity for our popular All-Hallows Eve tour. Our plan is to sell the candy to our visitors and after Masses that day and on Sunday, November 1. Not sure you’re up to the challenge? We’ll also need help assembling boxes, shuffling cookie sheets, boxing and weighing candy. Not an early riser? You can help by donating ingredients. Call Dorothy Manuppelli at 716-834-3513 and let her know you’re on the team of BT Chocolatiers.
Our weekly bulletin is available on this website and we encourage you to take the time to read it each week. In addition to Father Bob’s weekly message, the Mass intentions for the coming week, and the stewardship report, it includes time-sensitive details on various activities in our Family of Parishes, the Heart of Buffalo Catholic Community East. You are sure to find something of particular interest to you so click HERE and be in the know.
Mass is the highest and greatest form of prayer. Contact the office (716-833-0301) to request a Mass intention for yourself, your loved ones, a special need, or in thanksgiving for prayers answered. The Mass stipend or offering is $15. If a specific date is desired, please call as far in advance as possible. Our secretary, Barb Sercu, is in the office Monday – Wednesday from 10:30am to 2:30pm.

FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. We hope you will join us. If you want more background information go to the web site, www.fpwny.org, or contact their Executive Director, Luanne Firestone at 716-771-3007.
- Family Promise is certified by NYS and can house up to six families.
- It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.
- Families are referred by the Dept. of Social Services and receive case management in finding employment and permanent housing, security deposit assistance, day care, school transport, and follow up support upon leaving the shelter.
- In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.
Is it time to update your contact information? During the pandemic when COVID-19 Protocols prevented many from attending church services, the ability to keep in touch by telephone, mail or email took on increased importance. Because not everyone has computer access, really important information is sent in a letter. Even though you are now able to attend Mass in person, this may be a good time to ask yourself: Does the church office have my correct mailing address and phone number? Have I shared my email address? Make sure that we have been notified of any changes in your contact information by completing this form. This is also a chance to let us know if you: wish to receive the bulletin electronically via email, register as a parishioner, or request envelopes. You can also submit the requested information by phoning our secretary at 716-833-0301 any Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday between 10:30am and 2:30pm; sending an email to blessedtrinitychurch [at] gmail [dot] com; or using the contact feature below to submit the information. If you choose either of the last two, please use “Contact Update” as the subject of the email or message.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux, France (St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus) is honored by the Church on October 1. She was canonized in 1925 while our church was being built, and this statue is found on the right in the church transept.
