News from our Parish
Did you notice a difference in the appearance of our vigil light racks last Sunday? We thank the volunteer team who have taken on some neglected church cleaning tasks.

Wednesday, 7/1 – Helping Hands Food Pantry, 9:30am-1:30pm in St. Charles Hall – Use Dewey Ave entrance.
Thursday, 7/2 – Bingo in St. Charles Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm; games begin at 8:00pm
Prayerful thanks for Vera Andrew, Kathleen Dove, Nancy Langer, Jacquie Allen, Sue Trabert and Mickey Dick who formed two teams and tackled some often-neglected light church cleaning tasks on June 20 and 27. They are hoping to form several permanent teams who will take turns “housekeeping” in our house of worship. You should notice that our vigil lights are looking much “brighter,” and that’s before you even light the candle. And if you’re just getting back to dipping your hand in a holy water font, know that they have been cleaned each week. If you could be available to help once or twice a month, please call Vera Andrew (716-704-2944), Mickey Dick (716-832-2540) or Nancy Langer (716-984-5146).
Buffalo House of Hope. The Buffalo House of Hope is a non-profit volunteer organization providing temporary shelter for documented individuals and families who have fled dangers in their homeland. Nancy Langer and Mickey Dick, BT’s representatives to our Family’s Stewardship Pillar, were part of a team who formed a convoy from Ss. Columba-Brigid on Monday and delivered all the personal care products, bedding, towels and cleaning products collected from our family of parishes during March. They then enjoyed a tour of the Buffalo House of Hope facility in the former convent at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Hamburg.
We thank Deacon Don Weigel for his excellent presentation on Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, which attracted participation by more than fifty people. See Father Bob’s “On the Watch!” message in the June 21st bulletin for the five paths Pope Leo offers that “can move us beyond our fears toward bold responsibility to the Truth.”
Weekly Offering Envelopes – By now, you should have received your weekly offering envelopes in the mail. They include envelopes covering the weeks from May through July 5. We appreciate all of you who continued to make weekly donations even without a personalized envelope and hope that everyone will consider donating to those special collections you missed. If you did not receive the customary three-month envelope supply, please notify the church office.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our choir members. Sunday, June 7, the Feast of Corpus Christi, marked the end of the choir “season,” giving members an opportunity to enjoy the summer without a weekly rehearsal. However, they will still be lending their voices to congregational singing during their “vacation.” Please let them know that you appreciate their dedication and, perhaps, think about joining them in September. Special thanks to Debbie Nailos who will be leading the congregation with guitar rather than piano on June 28 when Elizabeth will be away.
Bible Study will resume in the fall.
Mass is the highest and greatest form of prayer. Contact the office (716-833-0301) to request a Mass intention for yourself, your loved ones, a special need, or in thanksgiving for prayers answered. The Mass stipend or offering is $15. If a specific date is desired, please call as far in advance as possible. Our secretary, Barb Sercu, is in the office Monday – Wednesday from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Food Pantry in Need of Volunteers ~ The Catholic Central Helping Hands Food Pantry operates EVERY Wednesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm from our St. Charles Hall at 350 Dewey Avenue. Following the “Shopper’s Choice” model, residents of zip codes 14214 & 14215 are welcome to help themselves, according to household size, to portions of carbohydrates, grains, proteins and canned vegetables. Bread and sweets are generally available. The pantry also stocks infant care items. More volunteers are needed. FAMILY PROMISE OF WNY: Feed the Hungry, Shelter the Homeless. Family Promise offers us the opportunity to perform these acts of charity in a very direct and personal manner. As a support congregation, Blessed Trinity parishioners purchase and deliver groceries to the Family Promise shelter at Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish. With a few more volunteers we could continue this corporal work of mercy at least one day a month. Working in pairs, you could anticipate your turn to occur every third month. - Family Promise is certified by NYS and can house up to six families.
- It is one of only two emergency shelters in Erie County that allow fathers and teenage sons to stay with their family.
- Families are referred by the Dept. of Social Services and receive case management in finding employment and permanent housing, security deposit assistance, day care, school transport, and follow up support upon leaving the shelter.
- In 2020, the Homeless Alliance of WNY rated Family Promise with the best success rate for moving families into permanent homes.
Is it time to update your contact information? During the pandemic when COVID-19 Protocols prevented many from attending church services, the ability to keep in touch by telephone, mail or email took on increased importance. Because not everyone has computer access, really important information is sent in a letter. Even though you are now able to attend Mass in person, this may be a good time to ask yourself: Does the church office have my correct mailing address and phone number? Have I shared my email address? Make sure that we have been notified of any changes in your contact information by completing this form. This is also a chance to let us know if you: wish to receive the bulletin electronically via email, register as a parishioner, or request envelopes. You can also submit the requested information by phoning our secretary at 716-833-0301 any Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday between 10:30am and 2:30pm; sending an email to blessedtrinitychurch [at] gmail [dot] com; or using the contact feature below to submit the information. If you choose either of the last two, please use “Contact Update” as the subject of the email or message.
