Mardi Gras Raffle Winners ~  Our Basket of Cheer Raffle took place on Sunday, March 2, at a special Mardi Gras-themed coffee hour hosted by the Ladies Sodality. The first prize Basket of Cheer, donated by Bill Warren and Hertel Parker Liquor, was won by Bobbie Brunetto. The $50 gift cards for Wegman’s and Dash’s were won by Bud Dick and Florentina Dozier, respectively. The Sodality thanks everyone who supported our raffle, and we hope you enjoyed our Mardi Gras coffee hour. The coffee and conversation were a perfect anecdote for the snow and cold.

Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, March 5. Masses and imposition of ashes are at 12 Noon and 6:00 p.m. Click HERE for our schedule of Lenten services and programs.

The Future of Leroy/Fillmore ~ The LPCiminelli Interactive Community Forum held on February 25 was quite successful. B.T. had a great representation. We were given opportunities to respond to some beginning plans that were presented to develop a “new vision” for our neighborhood. As the process moves forward there will be similar gatherings to keep the community in touch with what is developing and to gather more insights and feedback from the neighborhood residents.

Our March Concert ~ Here’s an excerpt from the Buffalo Choral Arts Society web site about our upcoming concert: “Members of the Buffalo Choral Arts Society (BCAS) have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to sing classic sacred choral literature. Lent is the season, and the venues are beautiful churches which offer the time and place for such performances. Our audiences have told us in many ways that this set of concerts is among the most enjoyed…. BCAS is most honored to add … Blessed Trinity Church in Buffalo to our ever-growing list of houses of worship inviting the 120 voice choral ensemble to perform.” Works by John Rutter, Gabrielle Faure, John Ness Beck, Ludwig van Beethoven, Ola Gjeilo, Moses Hogan, Andre Thomas and others will be performed at the March 30th concert. Please save the date and invite your friends. Click HERE for more information.

Family Promise – Blessed Trinity joins with Ss. Columba-Brigid Parish to provide hospitality for the homeless families who are receiving temporary shelter while participating in a program that will assist them to find a home and take the necessary steps to become independent. Naoma Allen has been coordinating our effort in this ministry. We prepare and serve a meal for the residents in the program during the week they are staying at Columba-Brigid parish. Last week Naoma was assisted by her daughter, Jackie, Amy Johnson and Judy Casassa. Thanks to each of you for your continuing care and interest in this ministry.

Prayer Partners ~ Please pick up your envelope containing the name of your prayer partner for the Lenten season. They can be found on the altar railing near Mary’s shrine. Thank you!

National Black and Indian Mission Collection ~ Thank you for your generous support of the National Black and Indian Mission Collection. Your support of this collection helps build the Church in African American, Native American, and Alaskan Native communities. Schools, parish religious education programs, and diocesan ministries depend on your generosity to help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

A Vocation View ~ Because life is fragile, we often try to shore it up — using the wrong supports! In the face of waste and want, in confrontation with evil and death, we must trust in God. Is God calling you? If God is calling you to a Church vocation, call Father Walter Szczesny at 847-5535. You can also check out the “Priest of the Month” stories on our website: http://www.buffalovocations.org/.
